Molex Busbar manufactures for our Consumer and Commercial Solutions Division servicing customers globally. We provide complete solutions for power distribution systems with 51 years of manufacturing excellence - copper and aluminum busbars, insulated and laminated busbars, flexible busbars and related products. We are seeking a Manufacturing lead for second shift operations in Monee, Illinois.

Job Summary

The Second Shift Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating production activities for the second shift manufacturing team producing busbar parts. This role ensures safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery by providing hands-on leadership, monitoring workflow, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The Lead acts as the primary point of contact for second shift operations and helps maintain smooth communication between shifts.

Shift: Second 2:30pm-1:00am Monday- Thursday (Friday, Saturday, Sunday off!)

What You Will Do In Your Role:

  • Lead, coach, and support second shift production employees to meet daily production goals.
  • Assign work, balance labor, and adjust staffing as needed to meet production schedules.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for production, quality, and personnel issues on second shift.
  • Train new employees and cross-train team members on equipment and processes.
  • Promote a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment.
  • Oversee daily production of busbar parts to ensure output, efficiency, and takt time targets are met.
  • Monitor machine performance and coordinate with maintenance for equipment issues or downtime.
  • Review production schedules and prioritize work orders accordingly.
  • Ensure proper setup, changeovers, and material availability to minimize downtime.
  • Drive Lean initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen, and workflow efficiency improvements.
  • Provide setup and tooling support to operators, ensuring accuracy against blueprints and specifications
  • Ensure all busbar parts meet customer and internal quality specifications.
  • Enforce standard work instructions, inspection procedures, and documentation requirements.
  • Investigate and assist with resolution of quality issues, scrap, and rework.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, IATF, or other applicable quality standards (if applicable).
  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Conduct safety talks and ensure proper use of PPE.
  • Report and investigate safety incidents and near misses.
  • Promote housekeeping and 5S standards on the production floor.
  • Communicate production status, issues, and handoff notes to first shift and management.
  • Complete shift reports, downtime tracking, and production metrics.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and continuous improvement discussions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work on the production floor for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to wear required PPE.
  • Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.

The Experience You Will Bring :

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in metal fabrication, electrical components, or busbar production ) OR CNC machine experience (milling/turning/Butcher)
  • Previous lead, trainer, or informal supervisory experience.
  • Experience reading and interpreting basic blueprints.
  • Basic computer skills (ERP/MES systems, Microsoft Office, or similar).

What Will Put You Ahead:

  • Experience with copper or aluminum busbar manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of stamping, bending, punching, plating, or machining processes.
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma exposure.
  • Forklift and/or overhead crane certification.

In order to comply with U.S. export control laws and regulations, this position requires applicants to either provide proof of U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status or be eligible to receive an export authorization (a license) under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and/or the Export Administration Regulations.

For this role, we anticipate paying $20-$30 per hour. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
