Job Title: Electrical/Mechanical Technician

Location: Portage MI 49002 (Onsite)

Duration: 12+ months

Shift Details: 3^rd shift 10pm- 6:30am; Start Sunday to Friday

Pay Range: $24/hr. - $26/hr.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical/Mechanical Technician to provide hands-on support to engineers and scientists in a large laboratory environment. This is an entry-level role ideal for candidates with a mechanical, electrical, engineering, or life sciences background who are eager to gain experience in a structured, highly technical setting. The position primarily supports mechanical testing, with some exposure to electrical systems, and operates on 3rd shift.

Work Environment

• Role is based in a large laboratory setting
• Work is primarily mechanical testing (80%), with some electrical testing (20%)
• All training will take place on 3rd shift

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to engineers and scientists across a variety of routine and well-defined technical tasks
• Perform mechanical and limited electrical testing using automated internal test systems
• Follow established procedures, methods, and detailed work instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately
• Conduct technical evaluations of events or test results to help determine root causes
• Recommend basic corrective actions by selecting from established solutions
• Prepare and maintain accurate technical reports and documentation
• Communicate clearly across shifts, including detailed status handoffs to 2nd shift personnel
• Work independently while adhering closely to directions, procedures, and safety guidelines

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Entry-level candidates encouraged to apply; no prior experience required
• Strong ability to follow defined procedures and make sound judgments in straightforward situations
• Comfortable working independently in a structured environment
• Experience with computers is required, including Excel and general software proficiency
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively on 3rd shift and collaborate with multiple shift teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Background or education in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Medical Devices, Biology, or related technical fields
• Exposure to laboratory or testing environments is a plus
• Bachelor's degree is not required, but has been beneficial in similar roles
