Songbird and Sage Grouse Research Technician Requisition ID: 2026-9977 # of Openings: 5 Location: US-UT-Loa Category: Research (non-Faculty) Position Type: Non-benefited (hourly) Full-Time Job Classification: Non-Benefited College: Quinney College of Agric & Nat Res Department: Wildland Resources Advertised Salary: $15/hour Overview We are hiring technicians to document the response of birds to habitat treatments on Parker Mountain, Utah, with special emphasis on sage grouse and songbirds. Housing and work vehicles are provided. The positions will be from May 18 to August 14, 2026. Weekly hours will vary with weather, schedule, holidays, and other time off. Responsibilities Responsibilities will include songbird surveys (by sight and sound), deployment of autonomous recording units (ARUs), sage grouse pellet surveys, use of working dogs to detect sage grouse, capturing sage grouse, and tracking sage grouse using radio telemetry. The position requires considerable physical activity. Employees must be comfortable hiking alone outdoors.
