Overview

The Copilot Data Platform (CDP) team is at the heart of Microsoft's mission to empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more-by enabling the next generation of AI-powered productivity. We build the foundational data infrastructure that supports Microsoft 365 Copilot experiences. Our platform ingests, curates, and serves compliant, privacy-preserving datasets at scale, supporting both offline and online evaluation, model fine-tuning, and feedback loops. We partner deeply with engineering, data science, and product teams to accelerate innovation across Microsoft's AI ecosystem. As part of the CDP team, you'll work on cutting-edge challenges in data engineering, analytics, and platform design-powering one of the largest and most advanced AI systems in the world.

We're looking for a software engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing and delivering data products that support Copilot product innovation via agile data onboarding, ingesting and curating high quality data, and building a reliable data platform, all the while working closely with internal partners and LT.We value curiosity, collaboration, and a growth mindset, and we're looking for bold thinkers who are excited to shape the future of AI at Microsoft.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain high-quality datasets that power A/B testing, user metrics, and model training for Microsoft 365 Copilot.
  • Design and implement scalable data ingestion service and data pipelines at petabyte scale with events from millions of users.
  • Optimize data infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency at enterprise scale.
  • Collaborate with partner teams to understand and meet requirements, debug issues when raised, and proactively communicate with stakeholders.
  • Beon call to monitor and repair our data service for degradations. Alert stakeholders for issues and escalate problems to other teams as needed.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience working in big data processing, data modeling, ETL, data analysis is highly desirable.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
