The Director, A&R will be responsible for finding recording artists and songs using analytical tools and data, along with gut instinct A&R and ears. This role will report directly to Co-Presidents of JIVE records and will be New York City based.


What you'll do:

  • Identify and sign established and emerging talent to JIVE Records.
  • Manage recording budgets and the recording process for artists signed to JIVE Records as part of a wider team.
  • Be a champion of diversity and culture and a creative force within JIVE Records.
  • Scout for new talent and attend shows on behalf of the team, supported by our A&R scout structure.
  • Take meetings with artists, managers, lawyers, labels, educate them on what JIVE Records is.
  • Help coordinate communication on new / promising artists with the rest of the global JIVE Records team.
  • Champion great artists and promote their success within the JIVE Records structure.
  • Be a collaborative and supportive team member, cultivating a great team culture and shared success.


Who you are:

  • Outstanding communication and relationship building skills
  • Passionate about new music and discovering new talent
  • Detailed knowledge of the music industry and how it is developing, and an understanding of recording contracts
  • A great network and learned experience from the music industry
  • A self-starter, a quick learner, a highly organized individual with proven ability to multi-task and work under pressure and with a high level of attention to detail
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, forward thinking and a creative and positive attitude
  • An artist first approach to the artist / label relationship
  • You will already be established in A&R with a track record of signings, this is not an entry level role
