Develop, optimize, and maintain high-performance, scalable stream processing components using technologies such as C++ and Golang. Ensure code is idiomatic, debuggable, well-documented, and thoroughly tested. Break down complex software development tasks into incremental deliverables, ensuring alignment with the broader system architecture. Lead design discussions, contribute to technical roadmaps, and mentor junior engineers. Provide constructive technical feedback in code reviews and technical documents to maintain high software quality. Investigate and resolve production issues. Utilize relevant telemetry and debugging tools to diagnose root causes and propose long-term solutions. Identify inefficiencies in workflows and implement automation where feasible. Advocate for best practices in software development, deployment, and operational processes to improve team productivity and software reliability. Telecommuting permissible from anywhere in the US. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, or related field and five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the related role or job offered. Experience and/or education must include: Utilizing modern C++17/20 to design and optimize high-throughput components of a distributed stream-processing engine; Leading end-to-end delivery of multi-node software projects, including owning architecture, implementation, testing, and production rollout; Hands-on experience building stream-processing components or internal database systems components (e.g., query execution or storage execution); Experience with debugging and profiling tools such as GDB, LLDB, Valgrind, AddressSanitizer, and ThreadSanitizer; Mentoring engineers through code and design reviews and pair programming; Unit and integration testing for new features and bug fixes; Observability and alerting using Prometheus and Grafana; Utilizing Splunk for log storage and analysis; Utilizing GitHub for source code management; and Experience handling on-call escalations for distributed services in production environments.
