We're seeking a future team member for the role of Director, Strategic Planning in the Office of Regulatory Relations to join our Corporate Affairs team. This role is located in New York, NY. In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
- Lead our regulatory engagement strategy (with respect to risk and compliance) ensuring every interaction aligns with legal, policy, and reputational standards and advances BNY's Strategic Pillars.
- Serve as the primary interface with prudential regulators, building trusted relationships and proactively managing stakeholder expectations across internal and external parties.
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and disciplined execution in all regulatory communications (e.g., executive updates, disclosures, formal responses), maintaining a unified institutional voice and narrative.
- Partner crossfunctionally with Lines of Business, Risk, Finance, and enabling functions to anticipate regulatory developments, align enterprisewide messaging, and coordinate clear action plans.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate regulatory risks by establishing structured governance, operating rhythms, escalation protocols, and durable documentation practices.
- Leverage AI and datadriven tools to enhance regulatory monitoring, streamline reporting, elevate insight generation, and increase efficiency-grounded in responsible controls and model governance.
- Connect strategy to execution by simplifying processes, clarifying accountabilities, and tracking outcomes through dashboards and feedback loops to drive continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10+ years of experience, ideally within financial services; experience in risk or compliance (including BSA/AML) is highly desirable.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, actionable narratives.
- Prior experience interacting with financial regulatory agencies preferred, familiarity with supervisory frameworks and expectations.
- Executive presence, sound judgment, and grace under pressure; able to navigate complexity with calm and clarity.
- Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously under tight deadlines; strong prioritization and followthrough.
Comfort with data and AIenabled practices to improve preparedness, evidence outcomes, and inform decisions within strict compliance and control standards. BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $130,000 and $230,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
