PreSales Solution Architect

Job Description: Design performant, highly available data architectures using MongoDB (core, Atlas, and advanced services) in cloud and on-premises environments. Review and optimize existing customer architectures and provide actionable technical recommendations for modernization or cloud migrations. Serve as a trusted advisor, presenting technical solutions and value propositions to diverse customer stakeholders, from developers to CTOs. Guide customers through technical discovery, proof of value, and solution validation. Collaborate with Account Executives and cross-functional teams to develop account strategies, prioritize opportunities, and drive technical win. Deliver compelling product demonstrations, whiteboard sessions, presentations, and technical workshops. Provide feedback from the field to influence product direction and mentor and enable partner and customer technical teams. Lead or participate in technical marketing initiatives, industry events, and customer-facing GTM activities. Stay current with MongoDB product suite, complementary cloud and data technologies (such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Kafka, Kubernetes), and market trends. 25% travel required (regionally or internationally, as required). Telecommuting permissible from any location within US.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Software Development, Information Science, or related field and five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate and in the related role or job offered. 

Experience and/or education must include:  

1. Experience with scalable and highly available distributed systems; 

2. Understanding and ability to code with two or more modern scripting languages (e.g., Python, Node.js, SQL) and/or popular programming languages (C/C++, Java, C#);

3. Sales qualification and methodology frameworks such as MEDDIC and/or Command of the Message;

4. Knowledge of product lifecycle management including the software development lifecycle and modern methodologies and architectures, such as Agile and Microservices;

5. Experience with NoSQL/document-database technologies including MongoDB in a design, build, production, or POC;

6. Architected or operated scalable, distributed systems using at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP), including compute, storage, database/PaaS, monitoring, and security;

7. Practical implementation of secure authentication, authorization, data encryption, and compliance policies (GDPR, HIPAA, SOC2) in customer solutions;

8. Designing CI/CD pipelines for deployments and best practices for database as code with tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI;

9. Experience integrating application data flows with third-party services, APIs, or stream-processing platforms (Kafka, ETL tools, etc.); and

10. Experience collaborating in multi-disciplinary teams throughout the pre-sales/deal lifecycle, including technical qualification, RFP/RFI response, value discovery, and proposal delivery.
