| Position Description: |
The Department of Health, Sport, and Human Physiology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Iowa invites applications for a 9-month, non-tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction/Practice, Associate Professor of Instruction/Practice, or Professor of Instruction/Practice starting in August 2026. The faculty member will teach laboratory courses in Applied Exercise Physiology, Exercise Testing and Prescription, and Behavioral and Clinical Health Assessment and possibly other courses in their area of expertise. This position requires in-person instruction on campus in Iowa City, Monday through Friday. The rank at which the finalist will be hired will be based on experience and record of achievement; salary will be commensurate with qualifications. | Education Requirement: |
- A master's degree or PhD in exercise science, kinesiology, health promotion, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
|
| Required Qualifications: |
- Professional work experience (a minimum of 3 years) in exercise testing, exercise prescription, and/or clinical behavioral health assessments in a relevant professional setting.
- Must demonstrate excellent communication skills as evidenced by application materials.
- Demonstrated experience in undergraduate instruction or direct supervision of students in practicum, internship, or applied laboratory settings.

| Desirable Qualifications: |
- Demonstrated effectiveness as a primary instructor of laboratory courses in applied exercise physiology, exercise testing and prescription, or health assessment
- Familiarity with commonly used exercise science lab equipment and technology (e.g., metabolic cart, air plethysmography, force plate, monarch cycle ergometer, common strength training equipment, iWorks, ADInstruments, Inc., etc.).
- Familiarity with objective clinical and behavioral assessments (e.g., blood pressure, anthropometry, biochemical measures, eating patterns, physical activity, sleep).
- Ability to teach didactic courses in the Exercise Science or related curriculum
- Relevant certifications (e.g., ACSM, NSCA, etc.)
