| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The goal of the
UNC Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (
HPDP) is to prevent chronic disease and reduce health disparities. Investigators and staff at
HPDP work with communities to conduct research, provide training and translate research findings into policy and practice. Research areas include nutrition and physical activity, cardiovascular health, diabetes, obesity, healthy food access, cancer prevention and control, children's health, rural health, and health equity.
HPDP is part of a network of 20
CDC Prevention Research Centers across the United States. |
| Position Summary |
This position is a 100% remote work arrangement, consistent with System Office policy.
UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
The School Health and Readiness (
SHARE) Project aims to understand parents' experience enrolling their children in kindergarten, including barriers parents may face to getting routine vaccinations.
We are seeking a temporary part-time Research Assistant (10-20 hours/week) to help coordinate our activities in the Coeur d'Alene School District. The Research Assistant position primary responsibilities: help the study team with data collection activities, which may include conducting interviews with parents and school staff, observing school events and collecting field notes, help recruit interested parents to participate in an advisory committee, and assisting with other project activities to support school health. The Research Assistant will work in close coordination with the
SHARE project staff who will provide training and support for all activities.
The temporary part-time Research Assistant will be located in the Coeur d'Alene, Idaho area. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
| Management Preferences |
- Familiar with the Coeur d'Alene community and able to easily travel to and around Coeur d'Alene
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work independently, and interest in learning about school health
- Experience in research, especially qualitative research
- Background in nursing, public health, social work, community health, or similar and with ties to the Coeur d'Alene community |
