Salary Range Starting At: $15.00/per hour

Job Description:

As the Pantry Coordinator you manage the daily operations of the food pantry and assist in the daily operation and upkeep of all Salvation Army food programs ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.

What You Will Do:



  • Oversee all ordering and purchasing of pantry, kitchen and other food service related supplies
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory of all equipment, supplies, and food pertaining to the food pantry
  • Correlate food ordering with menu plans to enhance use of inventory, decrease expired product, and maintain fiscal responsibility
  • Participate with loading, unloading, sorting, stocking, and picking up of donated/ purchased supplies for lunch program and food pantry
  • Maintain regular communications with multiple vendors and community pantries to compare process and quality
  • Assist in preparing and serving meals at assigned times and in accordance with ServSafe Standards if Head Cook is unavailable
  • Be present and assist volunteers during food pantry hours, filling needs as they appear
  • Ensure food pantry is set up and stocked for distribution every week
  • Keep accurate statistics on Gift in Kind donations and pantry items distributed
  • Report statistics and budget expenditure totals on a monthly basis to Social Services Manager
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by maintaining a professional demeanor
  • Complete assigned cleaning duties as scheduled or as necessary
  • Work collaboratively with the Head Cook to ensure food programs meet Health Department and Tristate Food Bank guidelines
  • Other tasks as assigned by leadership


Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.

Experience: Experience within the food service and working with others is encouraged. The ideal candidate will also have experience in distribution and organization/office experience.

Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment. ServSafe Food Manager Certification required within 6 months.

Skills/Abilities:



  • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.

  • Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity

Travel: Travel to local food pantries or vendors is expected of this position.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a typical institutional food services environment.
