  • Location: This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to One Energy Plaza located inJackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).

General Summary of Job Responsibilities
The Associate Security Engineer is responsible for planning and building effective computing solutions to increase the security posture of Consumers Energy cyber systems by direct and indirect interaction with business partners and implementation of projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Selects and executes the appropriate standard practices, procedures, and workflow for team activities, such as daily operating reviews, technical Implementations, standards development, CE Way activities to ensure any gaps noted in processes are shared with the team for remediation
  • Build a strong relationship with internal and external teams by discussing emergent/new technology roll outs, participating in technical review meetings that include cross-functional teams both highly technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Supports business and IT projects to ensure designs are meeting the applicable security standards. Works with Business partners and provides the Interpretation of the security standards. It also will assist in working through various requirements questionnaire with business partners to ensure programs/applications are properly secured (Encryption, Authentication, etc.) The associate level engineer will consult with principal team members to ensure design and interpretations are accurate prior to implementation.
  • Execute on assigned projects/enhancements by evaluating and developing secure solutions based on already created & approved security standards and architectures. May work on more complex assignments with support from Principal engineer.
  • Other duties as assigned or may be necessary
  • Develop initial drafts for applicable security standards while consulting with Principal Engineers. Review existing documentation on security related platforms

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to learn and adapt new concepts to build a professional body of knowledge
  • Working knowledge of computer network concepts
  • Knowledge of Information Technology (IT) or Network systems and designs
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Awareness of security industry concepts, best practices, and trends
  • High degree of integrity and confidentiality, as well as ability to adhere to company policies and best practices

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Science or related field, including in a production or academic setting with Cyber security and/or computer networks.
  • [OR] Associate's degree in Information Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Science or related fields with experience in a production or academic setting with Cyber security and/or computer networks.
  • [OR] High School Diploma/GED with two (2) or more years of relevant experience in a production or academic setting with Cyber security and/or computer networks.
