DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Drug and Alcohol Case Management Specialist, you will be providing a full range of case management services in the field of drug and alcohol treatment. Responsibilities include screening and assessing clients' needs to determine the level of care required based on placement guidelines; coordinating access to treatment services; as well as developing and implementing a comprehensive service plan to include case management follow-up. You will have the opportunity to monitor the treatment progress of clients, write reports, and advocate for the clients with other agencies or organizations to maximize the clients' benefits. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Conducting telephone screening interviews to determine the need for emergent care
  • Completing documentation of services provided and maintaining up-to-date progress notes
  • Working with clients to assist in resource coordination for ancillary non-treatment needs
  • Collaborating with providers to ensure authorizations and paperwork are in compliance with standard procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Drug and Alcohol Case Management Specialist Trainee; or
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Dependency, Sociology, Social Welfare, Psychology, Nursing or a related field; and one year direct service experience performing counseling or case management work in alcohol or other drug treatment setting; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 18 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, criminal justice or other related social sciences; and one year direct service experience performing counseling or case management work in alcohol or other drug treatment setting; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Luzerne County. If no eligible candidates who live within Luzerne County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
