Positions focused on leading, advancing, developing, and applying science, technology, engineering, information technology, and research and development, to anticipate, innovate, and deliver solutions to Laboratory missions. These positions may involve discovery, design, and development of innovative solutions which advance the state of the art. Positions within the Science and Engineering Career Band typically require a university degree and equivalent work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and concepts. Responsible to assist with tests and studies as needed and frequently participate in advanced experiments.

The postdoctoral position to be filled will support existing research projects and is expected to demonstrate high quality research skills while assisting or leading in developing proposals for new research opportunities.

Basic Qualifications: Post-Doctoral position to perform research and modeling of air-sea interactions and processes including exchange of chemical, biological, and physical materials. The successful candidate will possess atmospheric/oceanographic modeling skills with a knowledge of atmospheric boundary layer measurements, coastal and estuary circulations, tidal environments, and transport phenomenon including contaminants, wave generation, electromagnetic refraction and optical properties.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • * Experience with wind/wave, atmospheric mesoscale and EM/RF propagation models

  • * Knowledge of chemistry applicable to air-sea interface processes

  • * Demonstrated ability to write and interpret code for complex systems

  • * Experience with Linux environments, programming and scripting

  • * Familiarity with MPI for high performance computing simulations

  • * Strong communication skills including presentation of scientific data and visualization for publications and diverse range of audiences

  • * Excellent data analysis skills and programming using high level languages and packages
