Overview

Carle is obligated by Illinois law to submit birth certificates within seven days of birth. The Birth Certificate Registrar accomplishes this function through patient interviews, medical chart review and final approval of the parents. The Birth Certificate Registrar also files the Certificates with the State of Illinois Department of Public Health through IVRS and the McLean County Health Department as needed in collaboration with the department Administrative Assistant.

Responsibilities

Submits signed birth certificate to Administrative Assistant for submission to IVRS.
Completes complimentary birth certificate and delivers to patient.
Provides support and back-up to the Administrative Assistant in their absence by performing data transfer to IVRS.
Assists in education and training of new associates in complete birth certificate process.
Aware of safety and Infant Abduction Policy and reports any concerns and communicates safety concerns top department leadership.
Keeps work area neat and orderly.
Communicates effectively with patient, families, staff, physicians and associates in other departments.
Keeps medical record up to date.
Performs other support duties (typing, filing and copying) as requested.
Answers the telephone, directs incoming calls and takes messages that are accurate and complete.
Acts as Hospital representative to assure patient satisfaction. Answers questions, gives correct, timely information in a manner that patients will appreciate.
Prepares Birth Certificate worksheet for newborns. Gives patient relevant forms related to birth certificate, Acknowledgment of Parent, Denial of Paternity, Request for Birth Certificate, Explanation of Social Security. Prepare forms when needed. Enters information into Electronic Birth certificate data base obtained from Birth Certificate Worksheet. Prints completed birth certificate worksheet and obtains parents signature verifying & validating information.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $15.32per hour - $24.82per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
