Business Intelligence Developer


Job Summary

The Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of interactive dashboards and reports that facilitate decision-making across the organization. This role involves conducting thorough analyses to identify necessary data elements and employing data visualization tools and technologies to transform complex data sets into actionable insights. The developer is responsible for understanding and evaluating the data being reported and effectively communicating their analyses and findings to stakeholders. Additionally, this position requires providing technical support for visualizations and self-service tools, alongside offering training and guidance to end users.


Essential Functions
Key Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and develop custom dashboards, reports and other data visualizations as required. Organize and facilitate meetings or workshops to gather requirements and ensure clarity. Utilizing knowledge of the data, recommend to stakeholders methods for the organization to utilize data more effectively and efficiently to drive decisions and make changes.
  • Provide data analysis and interpretation as it relates to the reports and dashboards. Collaborate on interpreting patterns, trends, and anomalies in the data. Offer insights and recommendations based on data findings.
  • Utilize BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar to create visually compelling and interactive dashboards. Design and develop user-friendly interfaces with an emphasis on visual aesthetics and data interactivity. Configure tools and provide training to support self-service reporting.
  • Maintain and optimize existing dashboards, ensuring they remain relevant and aligned with business needs. Regularly review and update dashboards to incorporate new data or changes in business strategies. Optimize dashboard performance by refining queries and data structures. Gather user feedback to improve usability and effectiveness.
  • Create training materials and offer training and support to end-users for dashboard usage. Organize and conduct training sessions, workshops, or webinars to educate users on how to navigate and interpret dashboards. Develop user guides, FAQs, or video tutorials. Offer ongoing support, addressing user questions, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Participate in special projects and perform ad-hoc analyses as required. Quickly respond to unique data inquiries or challenges, providing in-depth analyses as necessary. Collaborate on business initiatives where data-driven insights are paramount.
  • Continuously stay abreast of industry trends and technologies to ensure state-of-the-art dashboard development. Regularly attend conferences, webinars, or workshops related to BI and dashboard development. Research and test new BI tools or technologies that could enhance current capabilities.
  • Provide support for extracting, transforming, and loading data from various sources to be used in reports and dashboards while ensuring data quality and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Analytics, Data Science, Management Information Systems, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or related experience as determined by HR
  • 3 years of analytic experience that included Dashboard development using tools like Tableau, Power BI, QlikView, or similar related experience as determined by HR
  • Understanding of statistical methods and tools that can be applied to data to derive insights
  • Ability to identify patterns, outliers, and anomalies in detailed and complex data
  • General understanding of core business processes relevant to the organization (e.g., sales, finance, operations)
  • Ability to engage stakeholders, understand their needs, and translate those needs into technical requirements
  • Awareness of data governance principles to ensure data is of high quality
  • Basic understanding of data privacy principles and practices, ensuring data is handled and displayed securely


Preferred Qualifications

Above requirements and the following:



  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Analytics, Data Science, Management Information Systems, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field as determined by HR
  • 2 additional years of Knowledge of statistical analysis and data modeling experience
  • Certifications in specific BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, or QlikView.
  • BI Development experience using SQL, Python/R

Below is the salary range for potential new hires.

Salary Range: The pay range for this position is $79,267.71 - $130,374.83 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
