The Travel Specialist provides comprehensive federal travel coordination and logistics support for CDC Division leadership and staff. This role manages domestic and international travel processes, ensures compliance with federal travel regulations, and provides real-time support for complex and time-sensitive travel operations.

This position supports a government contract and is restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. Documentation is required.

This is a mission-critical role that requires independent judgment, discretion, and the ability to resolve issues in real time while supporting senior leadership.

Compensation & Benefits:

Pay commensurate with experience.

Administrative Assistant, Travel Specialist, Federal Programs Responsibilities Include:

Travel Coordination

  • Process domestic travel authorizations and vouchers

  • Coordinate international travel requirements, including approvals, documentation, and compliance

  • Prepare travel risk assessments and supporting documentation

  • Ensure adherence to federal travel policies and CDC procedures

Logistics & Support

  • Coordinate travel itineraries, lodging, and transportation

  • Provide real-time troubleshooting for travel disruptions

  • Support conference travel planning and attendance tracking

Travel Systems & Compliance

  • Manage travel entries and approvals in systems such as ConcurGov and GTS

  • Track travel expenditures and reconcile travel documentation

  • Maintain travel records and audit-ready documentation

  • Administrative Assistant, Travel Specialist, Federal Programs Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's preferred

  • 3+ years of federal travel coordination experience

Hands-on experience with:

  • ConcurGov

  • Global Travel System (GTS)

  • Strong understanding of federal travel regulations

  • Ability to manage multiple travel requests simultaneously

  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and urgent requests

  • Ability to work independently and resolve problems without constant supervision

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Must pass the pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
