SUMMARY: The Ambulatory Patient Flow Coordinator is responsible for optimizing clinic throughput, exam room utilization, and overall operational efficiency across the ambulatory setting. This role provides real-time coordination of patient flow, proactively addresses capacity constraints, and drives process improvements to enhance patient experience and provider productivity. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Brown University Health employees are expected to successfully role model the organization's values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence as these guide our everyday actions with patients, customers and one another. Oversee real-time patient flow and exam room utilization to ensure efficient throughput and minimal delays. Serve as a central liaison between providers, nursing, administration, and ancillary services to coordinate care delivery. Monitor schedules, staffing, and capacity to anticipate bottlenecks and mitigate operational constraints. Leverage data and analytics to identify inefficiencies and implement workflow improvements. Track and improve exam room turnover times and readiness. Lead or participate in daily operational huddles to align teams, anticipate challenges, and optimize flow. Standardize exam room setup and supply readiness to support consistent, efficient care delivery. Communicate delays to patients and staff to maintain transparency and patient experience. Support Environment of Care rounds and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Participate in staff meetings and ongoing workflow improvement initiatives. Perform additional duties as assigned. EDUCATION: Associate degree in related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five (5) years of relevant healthcare operations experience required. Strong understanding of ambulatory operations and patient flow management Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities. Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills Ability to influence workflows and drive process improvement initiatives. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Healthcare setting including ambulatory clinics and hospital-based practices; requires frequent interaction with patients, staff, and clinical teams.
