JOB MISSION:

The Senior Network Engineer (or Lead Network Engineer) will work as part of New Balance Global Network Services to design, implement and support all network infrastructures including, but not limited to troubleshooting, configuring, project coordination and maintenance throughout the global New Balance environment. This position is hybrid in the New England region (primarily in Lawrence, MA).

MAJOR ACCOUNTABLITIES:

  • Serve as Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for network operations in corporate, retail, cloud and data center network environments. Support typically involves advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, provide root cause analysis and integration activities upon escalation.

  • Implement enterprise-wide network solutions, upgrades and changes with a strong focus on network security (implementing / managing firewalls, crafting firewall policies, developing trust zone models, building systems/apps into trust zones, handling 3rd party connectivity requests, etc.).

  • Interface with business unit and corporate stakeholders to consult and gather requirements for new projects including but not limited to understanding the business application workflows.

  • Build and communicate a well-organized project implementation plan.

  • Provide excellent client service while evaluating enhancements to the global networks by making use of technical knowledge, experience, and an in-depth understanding of switching, routing, and data flows.

  • Conduct related technical analysis & planning for deployment of evolving technology solutions, leveraging architecture standards and design guides. Contribute to the development of such standards.

  • Interface with various stakeholders regarding projects and requirements for new tech & services.

  • Prepare technical solution designs and proposals, applying existing standards to meet business requirements including but not limited to addressing the business application workflows.

  • Produce simple & concise documentation around project budgets, Implementation Plans, technical drawings, project management artifacts, business application workflows and operational handoffs as necessary.

  • Project manage owned projects, ensuring successful delivery with an effective amount of organization and stakeholder communication.

  • Guide junior engineers and vendors through configuration, implementation and operational activities.

REQUIREMENTS OF SUCCESS:

  • Any combination (at least two) of University STEM degree, industry certification(s), e.g. CCIE, CCDP, CCNP, security cert, and/or cloud cert - or equivalent experience.

  • Network product training / certification.

  • 7+ years of related experience at multi-national corporate enterprises with at least 10,000 workers and 20+ countries.

  • At least 4 of those 7 years in a lead design role for one or more large, complex networks.

  • Experience with designing, building, and monitoring LAN, MAN, WAN, SD-WAN, MPLS, Internet, VPN, WiFi, DNS/DHCP, QoS, data center network environments.

  • Extensive and substantial practical experience and applied knowledgeof routing protocols BGP, IS-IS and OSPF.

  • Extensive and substantial practical experience and applied knowledgeof Spanning Tree Protocol.

  • Knowledge of VXLAN fabric networks.

  • Knowledge of MPLS label switching and MP-BGP routing.

  • Experience mentoring junior engineers.

  • Strong understanding of current-era data center network design, both internal data centers and cloud service provider environments.

  • Experience with deploying and managing load balancers and remote access VPNs, Next Gen Firewalls.

  • Experience dealing with compliance-related regulations like PCI, HIPAA, GDPR, etc. is preferred.

  • Experience testing or implementing Network Access Control solutions.

  • Network Operations/Administration experience is helpful, but candidate must have advanced into a sr. network design role.

  • Coding and/or scripting skills (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform); experience with network automation

Lawrence, MA Corp Only Pay Range: $104,500.00 - $130,000.00 - $155,500.00 Annual (actual base pay varying based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, internal equity, geographic location, and more.)

Flexible Work Schedule

New Balance Associates currently work in office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).
