This leader is responsible not only for defining and delivering high-impact data products, but also for coaching and guiding a team of Product Managers, ensuring consistency in product thinking, execution quality, and value delivery across the portfolio.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex environments, brings strong product judgment, and understands how to scale product practices across teams building data and AI solutions.

Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Portfolio Leadership

Own and evolve a portfolio-level product strategy spanning data products, semantic layers, ML-enabled solutions, and data services.
  • Align product investments with Suffolk's enterprise priorities and Data & AI strategy, ensuring focus on highest-value opportunities.
  • Define and track portfolio-level KPIs and value realization, ensuring products drive measurable impact across Operations, Planning, Safety, Finance, and beyond.
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities across teams, balancing short-term delivery with long-term platform and product strategy.
  • Serve as a senior thought partner to Data & AI leadership on product direction, sequencing, and trade-offs.

Team Leadership & Product Management Excellence

  • Directly manage and develop a team of Product Managers, including performance management, career pathing, and resource allocation.
  • Establish and reinforce best practices for product management, including problem definition, roadmap development, backlog management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide guidance on prioritization, scoping, and trade-offs, ensuring consistency and quality across product teams.
  • Support PMs in navigating ambiguity, stakeholder complexity, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Elevate the overall product maturity of the Data Product function, contributing to standards, playbooks, and operating models.
  • Serve as the senior-most product management leader for Data Product, ensuring strong operating discipline across teams, clarifying priorities and trade-offs, and building a scalable product management function that can support Suffolk's growing portfolio of data and AI products.

Product Definition & Execution Oversight

  • Ensure clear, well-defined product strategies and roadmaps across all owned products.
  • Guide teams in translating business needs into structured problem statements and actionable requirements.
  • Partner with Data Engineering, BI, and Data Science leads to ensure solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned to platform standards.
  • Maintain accountability for what is built and why, while empowering PMs to own day-to-day execution.
  • Step in on complex or high-impact initiatives to provide hands-on product leadership when needed.

Cross-Functional Alignment & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across business functions to shape demand and align on priorities.
  • Ensure consistent engagement models across PMs, reducing fragmentation and improving stakeholder experience.
  • Coordinate across teams to manage dependencies, sequencing, and shared platform considerations.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex product or stakeholder challenges.

Customer Experience & Value Realization

  • Ensure products are intuitive, workflow-aligned, and embedded in how Suffolk operates.
  • Drive a culture of continuous feedback, iteration, and adoption tracking across all products.
  • Hold teams accountable for delivering measurable business outcomes, not just outputs.
  • Champion product decisions that balance usability, scalability, and long-term maintainability.

Governance, Quality & Standards

  • Ensure adherence to data governance, semantic modeling, and metric standards across the product portfolio.
  • Partner with BI and Data Science leadership to uphold analytical rigor and model governance.
  • Promote consistent documentation of product decisions, assumptions, and trade-offs.
  • Drive alignment to data-as-a-product principles and reusable data asset development.
  • Own and evolve Agile delivery ways of working for the product team by establishing and improving standards for sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, demos, retrospectives, dependency management, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the Jira operating environment for the Data team, including workflow design, board structure, issue hierarchy, taxonomy/metadata standards, reporting, traceability, and team adoption of consistent delivery practices.

Qualifications

  • 6-10+ years of experience in product management, analytics, data science, or related technical/business roles, with increasing scope and leadership responsibility.
  • Proven experience owning complex product areas or portfolios, ideally in data, analytics, or platform-oriented environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor other Product Managers or influence product practices across teams.
  • Strong ability to translate ambiguity into structured problems, strategies, and execution plans.
  • Deep familiarity with modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake), BI tools, and/or machine learning workflows.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience working with senior business and technical leaders.
