The Computer Science and Engineering department in the School of Engineering anticipates hiring multiple Readers for the below courses for Academic Year 2026-2027:

CSE 019: Introduction to Computing

CSE 022: Intro to Programming

CSE 024: Advanced Programming

CSE 030: Data Structures

CSE 031: Computer Organization

CSE 100: Algorithm Design and Analysis

CSE 107: Intro to Digital Image Process

CSE 108: Full Stack Web Development

CSE 111: Database Systems

CSE 120: Software Engineering

CSE 157: Signal Processing for IoT

CSE 160: Computer Networks

CSE 162: Mobile Computing

CSE 180: Introduction to Robotics

CSE 185: Intro to Computer Vision

The Reader will be responsible for grading homework, quizzes, exams as needed under the supervisor of the instructor. The position will require up to a maximum of 18 hours per week.

The University of California Readers are represented by the UAW-AFL-CIO..

Interested applicants should submit a 1) cover letter identifying the course(s) you are interested in being a Reader for, 2) curriculum vitae/resume, and 3) unofficial transcript confirming you have successfully completed and received a grade of "B" or higher in the course or related course you are requesting to be a Reader for and are in good standing at the University with at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average (GPA). Appointments for AY 2026-2027 and/or Fall 2026 semester are reviewed around April, and for Spring 2027 semester are reviewed around October. Applications will be reviewed on a continuous basis and this job posting will remain open until February 2027 to accommodate upcoming course needs and new applicants.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications

The Reader will have successfully completed the course or related course they are appointed to as a Reader with a grade of "B" or higher and be in good standing at the University with at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average (GPA). Readers will usually be graduate students; but qualified undergraduate students may be employed, especially when graduate students are not available. Professional readers, not enrolled as students, may be employed to meet special needs, but only on an hourly basis.
