We are seeking a senior broker and strategic leader to build and lead Aon's North American Commodity Trading insurance proposition. This individual will sit at the intersection of Marine, Natural Resources, Agriculture, Credit, and Financial Lines, delivering coordinated risk and insurance solutions to commodity traders, processors, producers, and related financial partners.

This growth leadership position involves developing a go-to-market strategy, rapidly growing client relationships, and coordinating Aon's global resources to offer distinct solutions for a highly complex and underserved segment.

This position involves a hybrid schedule in our Chicago, IL office (spending 3 days a week working onsite in Chicago).

What the day will look like

  • Lead and build Aon's North American Commodity Trading proposition, establishing a clear go-to-market strategy across physical traders (energy, agri, metals, softs) and related financial partners.
  • Drive revenue growth and origination working in tandem with Aon's Enterprise Client Group.
  • Work as a strategic resource for industry knowledge in the Commodity Trading sector.
  • Act as a connector across Aon's platform, integrating Marine, Energy, Credit, Financial Lines, Risk Capital (Reinsurance/Captives), Data & Analytics, and Risk Control into a unified client offering.
  • Develop differentiated solutions and market positioning, bringing to bear Aon's analytics, risk engineering, and global market access (U.S., London, international).
  • Build and manage senior carrier relationships, where appropriate, influencing underwriting appetite and collaborating on custom solutions for complex trading risks by educating carriers on industry-specific nuances.
  • Partner with producers and AEs to drive cross-solution growth, supporting pipeline development and execution across regions.
  • Position Aon as a market leader in commodity trading risk, including thought leadership (white papers, market updates, client presentations) and industry engagement.
  • Bring extensive knowledge in commodity trading and/or marine/logistics/credit risks, with a proven history of originating and closing complex deals.
  • Operate with an entrepreneurial, strategic approach, with accountability for revenue growth, client outcomes, and scaling a high-impact, enterprise-level practice.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, outstanding organizational skills, ability to make and communicate difficult decisions.
  • Minimum of 10 years of marine insurance brokerage and/or marine-related industry experience.
  • Proficient understanding of the commodities trading ecosystem.
  • Ability to articulate how Commodities fits within the Global Transportation & Logistics industry framework.
  • Strong practical understanding of carrier underwriting methods and procedures.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in collaborating with groups and capacity to engage with clients and consistently surpass client expectations.
  • Proven client-facing skills including effective presentations & communications.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and capability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Experience in resource deployment and utilization management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at various levels.
  • Capability to operate autonomously within a matrixed reporting structure.
  • Proven self-starter that is able to take projects from ideation to execution with little to no help or oversight.

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • A Property and Casualty Brokers License is required, or must be obtained within 90 days of hire if not already active

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $155,000- $185,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Chicago, IL. The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
