| Job Description Summary: |
Located at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health in the Department of Health Policy and Management, the Hirsh Health Law and Policy Program Senior Research Assistant will report to and assist the Harold and Jane Hirsh Health Law and Policy Associate Professor and Hirsh Program Director with managing, coordinating, and implementing the activities and research of the Hirsh Health Law and Policy Program and expanding the Program's reach and impact.
The core responsibilities of this position include:
- Assist with developing and executing a communications strategy for the Hirsh Program, including development of materials explaining legal and policy developments and research to the general public
- Help draft and edit blog posts, public presentations, policy briefs, reports, academic articles, and other written materials
- Assist with maintaining the Hirsh Program website and postings on social media
- Assist with policy and/or legal research and analysis, with a focus on knowledge translation (translating policy or legal research into information accessible to a non-academic audience)
- Develop infographics, charts and other visual representation of information and data
- Assist with developing and planning Hirsh Health Law and Policy Program activities, including planning of events and convenings
- Assist with planning and coordinating activities with the law school's Health Law and Policy Program and for JD-MPH students
- Assist with day-to-day management of existing grants
- Help with the development of new grant proposals and other fundraising activities
- Assist with coordinating the work of student research assistants

| Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS and 1 year of experience in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. |

| Preferred Qualifications: |
- Excellent organizational skills, including project management
- Communications experience, including with social media, websites, blogs and/or podcasts
- Excellent writing skills, including the ability to translate research into materials understandable to the general public
- Experience planning events
- Two years of professional experience or a graduate degree
- Experience, knowledge and/or demonstrated interest in health policy, health law, civil rights, and/or aging and disability policy
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Drupal or other website platform, and social media platforms
