Job Summary
F3EA is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician (Systems Integration) to lead hands-on integration, assembly, and fielding of Blue Water Instrumentation (BWI) capabilities at the Point Mugu Sea Range. This role is critical to delivering operational capability across Over-the-Horizon maritime instrumentation, telemetry relay systems, command-and-control experimentation, and range safety support. The Senior Engineering Technician will serve as the bridge between engineering design and real-world execution, leading the build, integration, and troubleshooting of complex, multi-disciplinary systems in both laboratory and maritime field environments. This position requires a highly experienced practitioner who can take incomplete designs, adapt in real time, and deliver working systems under operational conditions. This position is designed for a senior technician who can take ownership of system integration and execution, ensuring that engineering concepts are translated into reliable, field-ready capability. Success in this role requires technical depth, leadership at the execution level, and the ability to perform under the demands of live test environments.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the assembly, integration, and checkout of multi-disciplinary prototype systems (electrical, mechanical, RF, and network components)
- Serve as the primary hands-on integrator for testbeds, instrumentation packages, and fielded systems
- Oversee and execute system installation, integration, and checkout (I&I) in laboratory and field environments
- Lead test event setup, execution, troubleshooting, and teardown, ensuring systems are fully operational
- Troubleshoot and resolve system-level issues across electrical, mechanical, and communications domains
- Coordinate with engineers to implement design updates, modifications, and rapid prototyping iterations
- Guide and mentor junior technicians in build quality, integration standards, and troubleshooting techniques
- Ensure proper cable management, connectorization, and system configuration control across builds
- Support developmental network and communications integration for test environments
- Maintain accountability of equipment, tools, and prototype systems, supporting logistics and property requirements
- Document system configurations, integration procedures, and test results to support engineering and programmatic needs
- Ensure compliance with safety, range operations, and mission requirements
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provides technical leadership and mentorship to junior technicians; may lead small integration teams during test event

- Strong ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation
- Advanced troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and system-level issues
- Experience with test equipment and field diagnostics tools
- Ability to operate independently in dynamic lab and field environments, including maritime conditions
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and execution discipline
