Role overview As a Maintenance Mechanic III, you're the go-to problem solver who keeps everything running. From HVAC to plumbing to electrical systems, you jump in, fix issues fast, and keep the building operating like a well-oiled machine. This is an on-site role. What You'll Do Essential responsibilities
- Following prescribed procedures and services, operates and/or maintains the facility's heating, cooling, electric, plumbing, and other mechanical equipment.
- Makes routine repairs to building, mechanical equipment, and grounds.
- Comprehends various manuals, blueprints, and building plans.
- Ensures work orders are completed in an efficient and timely manner.
- Performs preventative maintenance throughout the building.
- Makes changes to the building controls system for HVAC equipment.
- Completes necessary paperwork and daily log when completing tasks.
- Keeps all landscaped and parking lot areas clean, safe, and maintained in accordance with designed standards.
- Complies with and understands all OSHA, IDPH, and regulatory body standards.
- Uses necessary safety precautions for oxygen usage, lock out tag out of equipment, use of fire prevention equipment, and other safety precautions as needed.
- Contacts outside vendors for equipment repair when needed and assists with the repairs.
- Ensures safety of residents, staff, and visitors by complying with safety and security procedures.
- Performs plumbing repairs (such as toilets, sinks, urinals, and garbage disposals).
- Uses hand tools and other tools required for the job.
- Performs electrical repairs (such as replacing outlets, light switches, ballasts, and small motors).
- Assembles equipment.
- Repairs door locks, hinges, and other door hardware.
- Ensures that the building meets regulation standards through knowledge of building codes, IDPH requirements, OSHA regulations, and local fire department requirements.
Compensation $28.96 per hour. Schedule Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, rotating weekends. Union status Membership in Service Employees International Union Local 73 is a condition of employment. Who You Are Education
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
Experience
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel) are required.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of related maintenance experience including the operation and maintenance of HVAC and boiler machinery and equipment is required.
- Working knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and electric repairs is required.
- Previous experience working in a healthcare environment is preferred.
- Weekend availability required.
- Carpentry skills required.
- Experience with mechanical breakdowns is required.
- Experience performing plumbing repairs required.
- Experience using a variety of hand tools required.
- Experience performing electrical repairs required.
- Experience repairing door locks, hinges, and other door hardware required.
Other
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
