Wieland is hiring an Associate Manufacturing Engineer. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for optimizing and improving machine shop manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness. This role supports production by developing, implementing, and maintaining robust machining processes, ensuring equipment performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Associate Manufacturing Engineer collaborates cross-functionally to meet customer specifications, improve operational performance, and support the overall success of the organization. This role is located in Lima, Ohio and will be fully on-site.



Responsibilities

Associate Manufacturing Engineer Responsibilities:

    Continuously analyze and improve machining processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and lower production costs.
  • Ensure all processes consistently meet customer specifications, print requirements, and internal quality standards.
  • Partner with maintenance and production to maintain optimal machine performance, while identifying and implementing equipment or tooling upgrades.
  • Develop, maintain, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation to ensure consistency and repeatability.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze process data, and report on performance trends to drive informed decision-making.
  • Train and support operators and team members on processes, best practices, and new technologies to build overall capability.
  • Work closely with production, quality, engineering, and quoting teams to ensure processes are efficient, scalable, and aligned with business needs.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, quality, finance, and management to translate business requirements into technical solutions that improve operational efficiency and business outcomes.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall operational performance.

Associate Manufacturing Engineer Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, CNC programming, tooling, and manufacturing best practices; proficiency in CAD/CAM software and engineering tools.
  • Ability to analyze complex processes, identify root causes, and implement effective, data-driven solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience driving process improvements using Lean manufacturing principles and a focus on efficiency and waste reduction.
  • Strong commitment to maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring compliance with customer specifications and internal requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and execute projects from concept through implementation.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and clearly convey technical information to various audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment required.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software and related engineering systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of machining, CNC operations, and tooling.
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies.
