About the Job:
The primary purpose of this position is to complete complex maintenance and repair work for refrigeration systems, air compressors, pumps, chillers, ice rink, and other campus systems. This position will also perform preventive maintenance inspections, daily rounds for chiller plants and ice rink, and respond to trouble calls. This position will work with computerized control systems to operate and troubleshoot equipment.

Location and Work environment:
This is an in-person position that will work full time on campus.

Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday with a normal shift time of 7:00am-3:30pm.

Please note, this position is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship. This position does not offer a STEM OPT training program.

Essential Functions:

40%

  • The primary responsibility for Mechanic 2 is to perform complex refrigeration, maintenance, repair work with building systems and related equipment. A major component of this position will be maintenance for large-scale buildings, which includes inspecting, servicing and repairing all types of refrigeration equipment.
  • Performs tasks and duties of Mechanic I classification. Position will perform repairs of cooling systems. Performs preventive maintenance on refrigeration equipment as determined by Facilities Management.

30%

  • Receives and responds to service calls.

20%

  • Completes daily rounds for chiller plants and ice rink and cleans chilled water filters.

10%

  • Operates/troubleshoots building equipment/systems utilizing computerized equipment monitoring and automation systems.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Technical education in mechanical (refrigeration) maintenance totaling two years and three years of applicable work experience. Must have Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Equipment Certification - EPA. Ability to maintain and repair heating and cooling pumps. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Must have a valid driver's license. Ability to meet physical requirements of this position. Positions may require the ability to walk or stand for majority of day; bend, climb, reach, kneel; carry, lift, push and pull SO lbs. or more.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with maintenance and operations of District Cooling Systems, including Trane and York chillers. Operating experience with commercial ice plants. Experience with ultra-low temperature freezers and coolers.
