Room Service Ambassador

Full Time - 1st Shift

Objectives are to skillfully perform multiple tasks necessary to operate the Food and Nutrition
Services/Dining Services Department to prepare and serve attractive, nutritious, satisfying meals
and to provide quality nutrition care in a safe, sanitary, and cost-effective manner to patients,
clients, and customers.

Job Description:

The purpose of the Room Service Ambassador is to serve meals to patients in a professional, efficient

manner; instruct patients on the meal ordering system; assist patients with placing their meal orders within the limitations of the physician prescribed diet; and to assess patients' capabilities to utilize the meal order system. The Room Service Ambassador will be able to provide basic information to a patient regarding their physician prescribed diet and will alert the patient's Clinical Dietitian and/or Nurse when further education or assessment is needed. The Room Service Ambassador is the main representative (or "face") of the Food and Nutrition Services Department on patient floors. The Room Service Ambassador position works much of their time without direct supervision:

  • Ensures services provided for patients, employees, and visitors are of high quality and maintain or enhance the patient and customer experience.
  • Delivers the correct menu (diet compliant) to the patient.
  • Instruct patients on meal ordering systems following an established script.
  • Obtains meal orders from patients and transfers the meal order into the FNS technology system via a tablet.
  • Assist patients and/or their families/guardians with meal orders and ensure orders are compliant with their physician ordered diet.
  • Serve meals for patients in a professional and efficient manner. Retrieves completed meals from patient rooms in a timely manner.
  • Mediates patient concerns regarding meal service.
  • Communicates with members of other departments effectively and concisely regarding patient support, issues, requests and other special situations.
  • Assumes the role of patient advocate regarding food services.

Essential Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Food Handler's Permit required by Madison County.
