Responsibilities

The Quality Director leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) programs across all fiber construction projects. This role ensures that fiber network installations meet company standards, client specifications, and industry regulations while driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction. This role will also lead our claims management team.

Responsibilities:

Quality Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute the company's quality management strategy for fiber construction projects.
  • Establish quality standards, procedures, and KPIs aligned with industry best practices.
  • Oversee QA/QC processes for aerial, underground, and inside plant fiber installations.

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to applicable standards (e.g., OSHA, ANSI, local/state regulations).
  • Maintain compliance with telecom client requirements (e.g., major carriers, municipalities).
  • Manage documentation and reporting for audits and regulatory reviews.

Operational Support

  • Partner with construction, engineering, and project management teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Analyze defect trends and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support pre-construction planning to mitigate quality risks.
  • Work with our Corporate Risk team to manage claims (utility, general liability, etc.) efficiently to achieve prompt resolution.

Training & Development

  • Work with our Training organization to develop and deliver training programs on quality standards and installation best practices.

Vendor & Subcontractor Oversight

  • Evaluate subcontractor performance and enforce quality requirements.
  • Establish quality expectations in contracts and monitor compliance.

Data & Reporting

  • Track and report quality metrics (e.g., rework rates, punch list items, inspection pass rates).
  • Provide executive-level reporting and recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure field leadership and Safety Teams are adequately trained in the claims process.
  • Report on claim statuses and aging to drive prompt resolution.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

About You:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
  • 8-12+ years of experience in telecom or fiber construction, with 3-5+ years in a leadership role.

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of fiber optic construction (FTTH, FTTX, backbone networks).
  • Familiarity with OSP/ISP standards, splicing, testing (OTDR), and network acceptance.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (QMS) and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO9001). Preferred.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.

Work Environment

  • Combination of office and field environments.
  • Frequent travel to project sites may be required.

Salary Guidelines: $125,000-$155,000/year, depending on experience
