Managing Director – (job location is New York, NY; employer is Brookfield Asset Management LLC) – Define and lead investment / sector strategy for North American Industrials, including developing thematic viewpoints and actionable pipelines. Responsible for origination, underwriting, execution, capital deployment, and active governance of private equity investments across North America. Originate investment opportunities and cultivate senior-level relationships with management teams, founders, advisors, and other partners. Lead end-to-end transaction execution, including screening, due diligence, valuation and financial analysis, structuring, negotiation, financing, investment committee materials, and closing (including transactions with significant equity commitments). Provide active governance of portfolio investments, including board-level participation, monitoring performance, and partnering with operating teams and management to drive strategic and operational initiatives. Identify differentiated investment theses based on the company’s operational capabilities and long-term ownership model. Lead and develop team members, including direct reports; oversee staffing, coaching, performance management, and recruiting. Drive firm-building and process improvement initiatives that enhance sourcing, decision making, and portfolio support. Serve as an ambassador for the company with internal stakeholders, investors, and external counterparties; reinforce the company’s culture of long-term focus, alignment of interests, and collaboration. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the position offered or in a related role. All of the required experience must have included experience with: advanced financial modeling and analysis to evaluate potential investments and forecast investment performance; assisting with the sourcing of potential investment opportunities (via market research, industry outreach, and business development); managing portfolio companies including, monitoring business performance and implementing operational improvements; leading all aspects of due-diligence on a potential investment opportunity; negotiating with counterparties and managing complex investments / transactions; identifying, assessing, and managing potential risks in investment decisions; understanding various industries (including industrials, business services, and software/technology), enabling the identification of promising investment opportunities; managing cross-functional teams; and identifying and implementing value creation opportunities in portfolio companies, including operational improvements and strategic initiatives.
