Position Overview:

The Quality Assurance and Food Safety Supervisor is responsible for the daily execution of all food safety and quality processes ensuring they meet Company, customer, industry quality certification, and regulatory requirements. This position is also accountable for managing the lab team and day-to-day activities within the quality function to ensure product quality and food safety. Hours for this position are 5:45pm - 6:00am on a non-rotating 2-2-3 schedule.

Responsibilities:

Engagement & Involvement

Performance Management


  • Set clear expectations and provide consistent coaching, feedback, and development opportunities.
  • Recognize and reinforce strong performance to build engagement and motivation.
  • Use data and performance metrics to guide decisions and improve team effectiveness.
  • Identify skill gaps and support employee growth through targeted development plans.
  • Oversee daily product hold reviews and ensure timely, accurate disposition.

Process & Resource Management


  • Accountable for quality performance on the assigned shift, ensuring all processes and standards are consistently followed.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance product quality and efficiency.
  • Ensure effective management of product holds and quality of food safety issues.
  • Maintain high standards for sanitation, housekeeping, and operational discipline.
  • Drive problem resolution with strong follow-through and clear ownership.

Human and Food Safety


  • Champion a safety-first culture by modeling and reinforcing safe work practices.
  • Lead safety incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Proactively identify and reduce safety and food safety risks.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company standards (USDA, FDA, SQF, etc.).
  • Maintain product quality that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
  • Escalate food safety or regulatory concerns promptly and appropriately.

Training


  • Lead onboarding and training for new team members
  • Identify and deliver ongoing training to strengthen technical and leadership skills
  • Build a flexible, cross-trained team to support operational needs
  • Reinforce a culture of continuous learning and improvement


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a science, operations, business, management, or related area of study, preferred.
  • 3+ years of managerial experience including hiring, employee development, performance coaching, and day-to-day supervision of multiple lines in an operation environment.
  • 5+ years hands-on plant quality assurance experience in a food industry or related manufacturing facility preferred.
  • Knowledge of food packaging principles, food industry quality and food safety requirements, ingredient performance and interactions with equipment, statistical process control, critical control points and new product scale up dynamics.
  • Experience development, implementation, training, and administration of quality lab processes, GMP, SQF, HACCP, FDA, Kosher or other regulatory or industry certification program development and administration.
  • Understanding of sanitation systems, techniques, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate well cross-functionally and work well at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills, troubleshooting and judgment skills.

  • Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and related production and product information systems.

  • Must be willing to be a hands-on performer and spend significant time on the plant production floor and provide coverage and support across shifts as needed.


Hours, Location and Pay:

We offer a competitive base pay rate and benefits package for full-time employees. This role works 5:45pm - 6:00am on a non-rotating 2-2-3 schedule at our Little Chute, WI manufacturing facility.

Physical and Mental Demands:


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, hear, use hands to type data, use a personal computer and telephone. This employee may occasionally have to operate business machines and lift and/move up to 50 pounds.
