MedStar Health is looking for a Medical Imaging Technologist PRN to join our team at Montgomery Medical Center! PRN Must be willing to work overnight 11pm-7am. Weekday and Weekend. Day and evening shifts available as well. Call may be required. We need help covering PTO and call outs for the overnight shift (11pm-7am). Taking some call shifts may be required. No limitations on which shifts are picked up but overnight availability is a must.

We are looking for an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology) registered individual with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of customers.

This is a skilled professional position thatprovideshealth care services, applying x-ray energy toassistwithdiagnosis or treatment. Performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation or interventionby;or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Work is performed under the general direction of the Supervisor,Manager,or the Director of M.I.

Primary Duties:

  • Operates and documents all aspects of Radiology.Verifiesprocedure preparation has beenperformed;the patient has consented totheprocedure,and fully understands its risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up.Providespatient information pertinent tothe exambeing performed.Assumes responsibility forthe provisionof physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures. Practice aseptictechniques,as necessary.Selects andoperatesimaging equipment. Monitorspatientsduringprocedures.Followsestablished protocols andproducesaccurateresults. Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification and image labeling. Initiates basic life support action when necessary.

  • Participates in data collection forthe department'squality assessment and improvement plan. Reports equipment failure/problems.Assistsin training and education of employees, physicians,students,and/or other healthcare professionals.Providesinput forhiringor newemployeesthrough peer interview process.Providespatient education as needed. Maintains knowledge of andobservesuniversal precautions. Access, manipulate,store,and create CD's from PACS. Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure topatients,self,and others.

  • Maintains a clean, safe, prepared work environment. Prepares room for procedure. Cleans andsterilizeequipment before and after each procedure.Restockandrequestsroom supplies that need to be replenished. Checks drug supplies andreports onwhat needs to be re-stocked.

  • Maintains current knowledge, certification, and licensure.Identifieslearning needs in self andattends continuing education programs.Attends hospital sponsored training programs as required by the department. Completes all mandatory requirements, certifications, and licensure within allotted time.Participatesininter-departmental teams and committees, communicating unit knowledge asappropriate.

  • Responsible for following all protocols to ensureoptimumimage quality.Transport stable unmonitoredpatients to and from Ultrasound procedures.Administers contrast mediaandmedicationsas prescribed bya licensed practitioner. Able toutilizefilm cassettes with wet processing if computer systemsare down.Assistlicensed practitioners with fluoroscopic, specialized interventional procedures. May perform non-interpretive fluoroscopic procedures. Assist M.I. front desk in answer phones, signing out image CD's, processing paperwork and scheduling procedures as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Associatedegree in Radiology.

  • 1-2 years' experience in a hospital setting.

  • ARRT.

  • CPR.

  • Experience with RIS/PACS is preferred.
