Part Time (24 hours/week) Mobile Health Nurse Practitioner - MedStar Health

Knowing you need a medical appointment is one thing, but having access for our most vulnerable patients in the community is another. The MedStar Mobile Health Center offers a solution in communities across the Baltimore area. This position would help staff our South Baltimore mobile unit Monday-Thursday primarily. Periodically, coverage on our second mobile unit in North Baltimore near Medstar Harbor Hospital, Medstar Union Memorial, Medstar Good Samaritan, and Medstar Franklin Square Hospital may be needed.

The MedStar Mobile Health Center is seeking an experienced Family Nurse Practitioner with at least two years of NP experience in primary care, emergency room, urgent care, FQHC, or other community health settings to work part time (0.6 FTE, 24 hours/week) with our mobile health team. This candidate will have a passion for mobile healthcare, public health, and/or serving vulnerable communities across the lifespan. The mobile health center provides primary care services, urgent care, wellness exams, on-site testing, and addressing social determinants of health needs. Each mobile health unit travels to four locations regularly, and this candidate will be responsible for providing coverage Monday-Thursday. Mon.: 8:00 am-2:30 pm; Tues-Thurs: 9:30 am-4:00 pm. Occasional availability about once a month on a Friday or weekend for a half day is expected for community events.

The candidate must feel comfortable addressing common acute and chronic illnesses and complex disease states for all age groups as the sole medical provider. There will be an interdisciplinary team of a registrar, community health advocate, and medical assistant/phlebotomy on the van. Candidate must be resourceful and resilient, able to maintain high-quality clinical care in a mobile environment with occasional technology or connectivity limitations.

• 2+ years of experience providing care/support to underserved populations including those who are uninsured or underinsured
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and triage skills
• Self-starter who is flexible, innovative, and compassionate
• Interest in community outreach and quality improvement
• Available Monday-Thursday, with once-a-month weekend availability
• Ability to travel to various sites throughout Baltimore City and Baltimore County
• Masters Degree in Nursing or Nurse Practitioner program from an accredited School of Nursing, and active license in Maryland required
• Experience with all age groups
• Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred
• DNP, MBA, MHA, or MPH credentials preferred
