As aNewborn Hearing Screener, you will perform a variety of technical and data management responsibilities for the newborn hearing screening program of the Department of Otolaryngology - Audiology Division. You will assist with the daily activities of the newborn hearing screening program.

Primary Duties:

1. Conducts newborn hearing screenings using both otoacoustic emissions and automated auditory brainstem response testing equipment.

1. Identifieswhich babies to screen and follows correct infant handling procedures. Screening is done according to written clinic protocol asevidencedby competency-based skills training.

1. Performs data management duties related to the screening program.Entersscreening results into the trackingsystemand follow-up letters are generated and mailed to theappropriate people.

1. Maintainsnewborn hearing screening equipment, followingappropriate manufacturerguidelines and infection control protocol.

1. Participates in meetings and on committees andrepresentsthe department and hospital in community outreach efforts.Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED.

Someexperiencewith computerspreferred.

On the job training is required, after which both written and practical assessments must be passed.
