Type: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shift

Compensation: $35.22 - $35.22 per hour

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connect control panels to the power source; install air and water filters in the completed installation, inject small amounts of refrigerant into the compressor to test systems, and add Freon gas to build up the prescribed operating pressure.

  • Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjusts controls to insure proper operation, test joints and connections for gas leaks, using gauges or soap-and-water solution, wrap pipes in insulation batting and secures them in place with cement or wire bands, replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units, may install, repair and service air conditioners, ranging from fifteen to twenty tons cooling capacity in warehouses and small factory buildings.

  • Responsible for installation, repairs, and troubleshooting HVAC malfunctions.

  • Responsible for performing preventative maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.

  • Responsible for utilizing wire diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and drawings to perform repairs and maintenance.

  • Responsible for installing and cleaning air and water filters.

  • Responsible for installing and programming thermostats.

  • Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and chassis parts

  • Responsible for connecting motors, compressors, temperature controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connecting control panels to the power source.

  • Communicate and interact directly with the customer, informing the customer of unexpected or additional repairs and determining customer needs.

  • Respond to customer inquiries and complaints.

  • Ensure completed work meets quality control standards.

  • Make difficult diagnoses and suggest solutions and repairs to the customer.

  • Communicate with the scheduler to update the status of repairs and estimate completion dates.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree preferred.

  • Three (3) years of HVAC experience required.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an HVAC and/or EPA certification.

  • Journeyman certification preferred.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an "L" level security clearance with the Department of Energy.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.

  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.

  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

Requirements:

  • A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance.
