What You'll Do
- Use a variety of cell and battery pack models, fleet data, and laboratory test data to createstate-of-the-art control and estimation algorithms for Tesla's high voltage battery packs
- Work on projects related to SOx (SOC, SOE, SOH, etc.) estimation
- Work on fault detection and mitigation of sensors, cells and battery pack components
- Create physics-based modeling of cell and pack elements and continuously improve them using large scale fleet data
- Design experiments for electrical/thermal performance characterization of battery packs
- Write efficient tests and evaluate the performance of models and algorithms throughout the life of the product
- Work cross-functionally with cell modeling, firmware, and battery safety organizations
What You'll Bring
- 2+ years of experience with battery algorithm design
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or other Engineering disciplines, or equivalent experience
- Experience in modeling battery cells with a basic understanding of their electrochemical physics
- Experience in developing reduced order electrothermal battery pack models
- Have knowledge in linear systems analysis, estimation algorithm design, and controls theory
- Understanding of diagnostic techniques for cells and battery pack components
- Experience coding with Python and MATLAB/Simulink
- Strong communication and preference for working in teams
- Experience writing differentiable code, gradient-based optimization methods, and uncertainty quantificationpreferred

Expected Compensation
$128,000 - $264,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
