Job Summary

The Data Center Technician I is responsible for supporting the installation, maintenance, and operation of data center infrastructure. This role performs structured cabling, panel patching, equipment installation, and basic troubleshooting while assisting with the daily operation of mission-critical environments. The technician works closely with team members to ensure data center reliability, safety, and operational efficiency while following established procedures and industry best practices.

Job Responsibilities




  • Install, route, label, and terminate fiber and copper cabling throughout the data center.



  • Pull and secure structured cabling according to established standards and specifications.



  • Patch network and fiber panels accurately while maintaining proper cable management.



  • Assist with rack and stack installations, equipment mounting, and infrastructure deployments.



  • Perform routine inspections of data center equipment and report any abnormalities.



  • Support hardware moves, adds, changes, and decommissioning activities.



  • Maintain accurate documentation of cabling, equipment, and work performed.



  • Use hand tools and testing equipment to verify cable installations and connectivity.



  • Follow all safety procedures, operational standards, and site security requirements.



  • Collaborate with technicians, contractors, and customers to complete assigned tasks.



  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.



  • Perform other duties as assigned.




Job Requirements




  • Previous hands-on experience pulling cable and patching panels is required.



  • Experience working in a data center, telecommunications, or structured cabling environment is preferred.



  • Knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling installation and cable management practices.



  • Ability to read and follow work orders, diagrams, and installation instructions.



  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.



  • Ability to use hand tools and cable testing equipment safely and effectively.



  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.



  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.



  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.



  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, climbing, bending, and working in confined spaces.



  • Must successfully complete required background screening and pre-employment requirements.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)




  • Schedule requires working 6 to 7 days per week.



  • Shift begins at 7:00 AM.



  • Expect to work 60 or more hours per week during most weeks.



  • No travel is required.
