Overview & Position Summary
This role oversees design-related initiatives for assigned regions, focusing on model home interior finishes, welcome centers, and exterior colors and materials. The position works closely with national and divisional stakeholders to ensure design decisions are market-relevant and aligned with customer preferences. This role is responsible for leveraging design as a sales-driven strategy to enhance the customer experience and support revenue growth.
Primary Responsibilities
- Select and document interior finish selections for model homes in assigned regions
- Leverage model homes as a strategic sales tool to drive revenue by showcasing thoughtfully curated interior finishes and upgrade options that inspire customers
- Partner with model merchandising team to align interior finishes with furnishing and overall color pallets, creating a cohesive model home experience
- Draft construction documents for welcome center in assigned regions
- Specify finishes and furnishings for welcome centers
- Partner with marketing to locate storytelling imagery for each welcome center
- Plan exterior color pallets for communities in assigned regions
- Document and publish exterior schemes for divisional use
- Coordinate exterior paint books
- Select exterior color schemes for models in assigned regions
- Update schemes as needed in response to vendor changes or product discontinuation
Education & Experience
Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in interior finishes, merchandising, design, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Bachelor's degree in interior design or equivalent professional education
- Experience applying technical or design expertise to resolve complex finish-related or operational issues
Preferred:
- Advance knowledge of interior finish materials and applications
- Experience specifying exterior colors and materials
- Experience creating construction documents
Skills & Competencies
- Advanced knowledge of interior finish materials, design trends, and residential construction practices
- Knowledge of ADA requirements
- Ability to plan and manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in complex or multi-stakeholder situations
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Proficiency in digital design tools and documentation platforms
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to guide decision-making and maintain consistent design standards
- Strong organizational and time-management capabilities
- Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office or design studio environment, with routine interaction across multiple departments. Occasional visits to design centers, model homes, or construction sites may be required to review interior finishes or support operational alignment. Some travel may be required for meetings, vendor reviews, or cross-functional collaboration.

- Ability to lift and carry finish samples up to 20 pounds
- Ability to walk through construction sites or model homes as needed
- Ability to visually evaluate colors, materials, and design details
Compensation
- Base Salary: $80,000-$90,000
- FLSA Status: Exempt
- Bonus Type: Year-end Discretionary
