Position Summary The Salvation Army St. Cloud Corps is "Doing the Most Good" by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include a 69-bed shelter serving families, veterans, women, and men, emergency assistance, food programs, and connections to community resources. The Facilities Maintenance & Driver is responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of Corps facilities, grounds, vehicles, and equipment. The position performs preventative, routine, and corrective maintenance; supports facility safety and regulatory compliance; coordinates repairs; and provides transportation, donation pickup, deliveries, and other operational support to ensure effective daily Corps operations. $14.79 to $21.60 per hour, 40 hours a week 400 US Highway 10 S, St. Cloud, MN 56304-1247 Essential Functions (Approximate Time Spent)
- Transportation, Donation Pickup & Deliveries (30%): Safely operate Corps vehicles to transport donated food, supplies, equipment, and other materials. Complete scheduled donation pickups and deliveries, properly secure and document donations, perform routine vehicle inspections, report maintenance concerns, and provide courteous customer service to donors, vendors, and community partners.
- Facilities Maintenance & Repairs (35%): Perform preventative, routine, and corrective maintenance throughout Corps facilities. Complete basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, appliance, and mechanical repairs within the scope of training and licensing. Assemble furniture, install fixtures, complete work orders, and maintain safe, functional building environments.
- Building Safety & Preventative Maintenance (20%): Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance of facilities, equipment, and building systems. Complete required safety checks, maintain maintenance schedules, SDS documentation, and repair records, coordinate vendors for specialized repairs, and respond to maintenance emergencies as assigned.
- Grounds & Equipment Maintenance (10%): Maintain exterior grounds through mowing, trimming, landscaping, seasonal maintenance, snow removal coordination, and general site upkeep. Maintain maintenance tools, equipment, and repair supply inventories.
- Operational Support (5%): Assist with facility setup for programs and events, support seasonal operations, attend required meetings and training, and perform other duties as assigned to support Corps operations and The Salvation Army mission.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction trades, or a related field preferred.
- Experience performing basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, mechanical, and general building repairs preferred.
- Experience operating cargo vans, passenger vans, or light-duty trucks preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver's license, meet The Salvation Army's Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) requirements, and successfully complete applicable background checks.

- Knowledge of building maintenance practices, facility systems, and safe work procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues, prioritize work assignments, and complete repairs independently.
- Strong organizational, customer service, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, vendors, and community partners.
- Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, and other organization-approved software.
Working Conditions
- On-site position with regular work throughout Corps facilities, grounds, and community locations.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, reaching, lifting, carrying, and operating maintenance equipment.
- Work performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Regular lifting of materials and equipment up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting up to 75 pounds.
- May require occasional evening, weekend, holiday, or emergency maintenance response.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Driving/Travel Requirements
- Operate Corps vehicles to transport donations, supplies, equipment, and other materials in support of Corps operations.
- Complete scheduled donation pickups and deliveries throughout the service area.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Local travel is required.
