What You'll Do:

Accountable for the safe, effective and efficient operation of the Environmental Operations Group. This includes responsibility for providing leadership and direction to staff and providing the highest standard of deliverables to our customers.

  • Demonstrate and/or lead the commitment to the pursuit of achieving Zero Harm through behavioral based safety
  • Ensure compliance with applicable HSE performance standards, objectives and regulations
  • Live and foster Dyno Nobel Corporate Values
  • Align with the Business Excellence, identify and implement framework and strategy to reduce waste and improve quality, productivity and safety performance within the assigned departments.
  • Accountable for maintaining compliance with permit conditions for DCC, Wastewater treatment and the Lead Grinding unit.
  • Evaluates results and makes recommendations as necessary for maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain good working knowledge of environmental laws and regulations and keep abreast of any changes impacting local operations. Coordinates with all levels of management to enhance or maintain high environmental standards.
  • Assist Plant Engineering and Operations in planning for compliance with regulations in connection with new or modified operations (e.g., new plants or processes, formulation changes) in order to assure compliance.
  • Work with Environmental Manager to draft or assist in the preparation of permit and renewal applications, responses to notices of deficiency, notices of violations, surveys, reports and any other requests for information from environmental agencies.
  • Provide leadership through direction, support and guidance regarding all activities within assigned department
  • Effectively managing, motivating and developing employees with the assigned department(s).
  • Promote and drive standardization of systems and processes.
  • Involve the Environmental Operations department in BEx activities.
  • Direct and coordinate operation resources to ensure customer demands are met.
  • Control the department's expenditure and assets to achieve financial targets.
  • Participate in incident investigations, regulatory inspections and audits and close all related actions.

What We're Looking For:

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Previous leadership experience preferred, but not required

  • Ensure all manual entries are legible, organized, and grammatically correct

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to develop strong relationships with a variety of groups

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and be flexible on several projects simultaneously.

  • Comfortable with working both outside and in an office environment

  • Must have a valid drivers license and able to drive onsite and on public roads as needed

  • Must obtain HAZOP and Hazmat Certification within 6 months of hire

  • Must be willing to undergo and pass an ATF background check as required to be a possessor of explosives.
