Education and Experience:



  • Must possess a high school diploma and a valid Idaho drivers license.
  • Work/Professional Experience:

    • Experience in a Salvation Army office with Salvation Army programs preferred.
    • 1 Year experience in administrative duties/ office work
    • Organizational skills and clerical skills required




Required Qualifications:



  • Food Handlers Permit or ServSafe certification as issued by the Idaho Department of Human Services or obtain within 3 days of accepting employment.


Scope of Position:

We need a friendly and compassionate individual who can answer questions and provide assistance to the community daily. This person will also assist with our Hot meal program when needed and will run our client's choice pantry, fresh Friday pantry, and clothing pantry. There will be clerical, computer, and administrative paperwork responsibilities involved.

Schedule:

Monday: 10:00am-2:00pm

Tuesday-Wednesday: 11:00-3:00pm (Pantry Days)

Thursday: 10:00am-2:00pm

Friday: 8:30-12:30 (Pantry Day)

Knowledge and Skills:



  • Applicants must have a high level of integrity and trustworthiness, as this position requires management of public gifts and materials given for the benefit of the community through The Salvation Army.
  • Applicants must be familiar, or be willing to learn, local and regional services available to the community.
  • Applicants must have good people skills and the ability to work effectively with groups and individuals to gain interest and support of The Salvation Army.
  • Applicants must be able to communicate effectively by telephone, letter, email, and public speaking.
  • Applicant must possess administrative skills including, but not limited to, answering phones, taking messages, email, word, excel, file retention, and other computer programs as needed.
  • Ability to organize projects, set priorities, calculate, catalog, inspect, analyze, plan, comprehend, and cooperate with others is needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Reception Duties: Greet clients, donors, and anyone else coming into the building. Receive packages and mail, put mail away in safe, answer the phone, take messages, give appropriate responses and referrals, forward messages as needed. Be an empathetic and friendly face the community sees.
  • Maintain Monthly Social Services Files: Maintain client intake forms and other assistance relates documents, update Wellsky daily with client assistance, update Turbo Stats monthly, update foodbank and other organization reports as necessary and required. Maintain the hardcopies of client files per Salvation Army policies.
  • Work with other staff and supervisors to refer clients for rental and utility assistance.
  • General Office Duties: Maintain files and file system, Forward invoices to Ministry Leader/Supervisor, photocopy, fax, email, scan as needed. Work with Ministry Leader/supervisor to create flyers and update clients on changes and events.
  • Oversee the client choice food pantry and client choice clothing closet. Intake clients and provide assistance when needed for clients choosing their items.
  • Maintain clients choice pantry and work with other staff and volunteers to ensure it is properly stocked. Maintain the cleanliness of pantry space and food storage space.
  • Assist with seasonal/Christmas fundraising efforts and angel tree as needed and required.
  • Additional reasonable responsibilities as assigned.


Physical requirements:



  • Must have the ability to sit, walk, Stand, bend, squat. Climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent and continual basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects.
  • Ability to reach overhead.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to drive vehicles regularly.


Much of the job will be sitting at a computer desk; performing clerical work.
