Your responsibilities

thyssenkrupp Crankshaft Company has an exciting opportunity for a shift Maintenance Engineer at our Danville, IL Forging facility. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for improving machining-line availability and efficiency by systematically addressing issues that inhibit productive operation. A senior level of experience and technical knowledge is expected for this role. Must be willing to work an off-shift.

  • Perform machine troubleshooting and repair as needed as well as replace and repair damaged components
  • Address and analyze downtime occurrences
  • Planning of preventative and/or predictive maintenance activities
  • Create and maintain documentation related to repair quality and work instructions
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive plan for preventive and/or predictive maintenance activities for production assets in a given value stream
  • Perform root cause analysis and drive corrective action facilitation for unplanned downtime events
  • Thorough analysis of extended downtime events, high frequency downtime events, machine wrecks, missed diagnosis or special cause events resulting in more downtime than what should have occurred
  • Continual analysis of: downtime data, machine component failures, spare parts inventory, support documentation and Maintenance repair quality/efficiency
  • Champion for documentation creation and control to improve repair quality and reduce time for repair on planned and unplanned activities
  • Play an active role in providing detailed parts lists to the Maintenance Acquisition Specialist for parts to be used during planned projects and to support down equipment events
  • Provide leadership during other planned downtime activities
  • Assist in creation of standard work instructions related to troubleshooting and preventative maintenance
  • Facilitate major repairs, rebuilds, and retrofits of existing production equipment
  • Other assignments and projects as specified
  • Evaluating and completing Planned Maintenance on machinery
  • Coordinate maintenance activities in assigned areas
  • Support the development of an effective spare parts inventory system
  • Support corrective maintenance team when needed

Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000


Your profile
  • Education/Credentials/Certifications
    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field, with 3-5 years of experience maintaining CNC/machining equipment. Or,
    • Associate's Degree and 6-10 years of experience in machining/CNC maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Length of Experience
    • Previous experience (3-5 years) in manufacturing in a maintenance role
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Strong mechanical aptitude
    • Basic electrical aptitude
    • Hands-on troubleshooting of machining machines
    • Ability to read mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatics schematics
    • Knowledge of machine tool mechanical systems (spindles, ways, hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication)
    • Ability to perform alignment and precision measurement (dial indicators, laser alignment)
    • Excellent oral and written language ability
    • Ability to learn and apply maintenance best practices
    • Excellent reasoning and problem-solving ability
    • Ability to pay extreme attention to detail
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Ability to collect and interpret data
    • Strongly analytical thinking
    • Excellent computer skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Project Management skills
    • Knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D drawing software.
    • Knowledge in Power BI is a plus
