SRHD is seeking an experienced public health professional to serve as the district's subject matter expert on health equity. This position leads efforts to advance health equity through community engagement, accessibility initiatives, data-informed decision-making, and cross-organizational collaboration.

This full-time role is based at our College Ave Main Campus and has a base range of $36.96-$47.20 per hour, depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

This position is responsible for assessing efforts within SRHD and overseeing internal efforts and systems to improve equitable health outcomes. This position provides visible leadership within the district and the community on disparate health outcomes, the social determinants of health, the impacts of systemic structures on health outcomes, and the broad policy and community changes needed to achieve health equity. Some Essential Functions Include:

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the district health equity goals and priorities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community members, particularly those most affected by health inequities, and the organizations that serve them to ensure their perspectives inform planning and decision-making.
  • Lead district efforts to ensure compliance with digital accessibility standards, including maintaining expertise in Washington's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • Partner with the Data Center to collect, analyze, and share local data, maps, and reports that highlight health disparities and inequities in Spokane County.
  • Develop and provide content for internal and external communications, presentations, reports, media opportunities, and public education efforts related to health equity.

What we need from you

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in Community Health, Health Promotion, Health Education, Public Health, or a closely related field.
  • Five years of related experience including a minimum of one (1) year working in equity/diversity fields and at least two (2) years of experience working in the health and wellness field with diverse community groups.
  • Experience with enhancing policy systems and frameworks that address health equity and the social determinants of health.
  • Experience with local and surrounding communities.
  • Valid driver's license and current auto insurance.

An equivalent combination of education, experience, and certifications may be considered provided the individual's background demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • A master's degree in public health
