Overview

The Accounting Practitioner-Payroll is a critical member of the Finance Team/Payroll Department, reporting to the Payroll Supervisor. In this role you will be responsible for all daily activities relating to the payroll process, which includes, but is not limited to, the auditing and processing of manual checks, voids, reissues, direct deposits, and termination payments. Additionally, you will be assigned workflows to ensure all timecards, employee and payroll transactions are processed timely and accurately.

This role will sit primarily in the office.

Responsibilities

    Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering payroll related data
  • Processing of multi-state payroll, check printing, reconciliation, and distribution inclusive of resolving discrepancies
  • Responsible for post-payroll reconciliations and reporting
  • Provide excellent customer service when answering employee and business partner payroll inquiries
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping confidential information
  • Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes
  • Ability to work individually and as a team member; Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple priorities
  • Act as backup for other team members as needed


Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma; Associate's or bachelor's degree in business or accounting preferred
  • Proven experience in a payroll position in a fast-paced environment required
  • Strong knowledge of tax and wage laws
  • Exceptional analytical, multitasking, and organizational skills
  • Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Experience with in-house payroll processing
  • ADP and/or CMiC experience a plus
  • Multi-state union and non-union with year-end/federal/state/local tax exposure
  • Knowledge of union payroll and Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) a plus

Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.

For Providence, this ranges from $51,600.00-$68,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
