The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is seeking a Health Advisor III - NIDHC to advise, implement, and execute activities in support of operationally-focused knowledge management (KM) at the National Institute for Defense Health Cooperation (NIDHC). This part-time position will advise on KM strategy and activities across NIDHC's Planning and Partnership (P&P) Directorate with key stakeholders, and contribute to the generation and development of deliverables and organizational knowledge assets. The Health Advisor III will also conduct highly technical data management tasks in furtherance of specific KM projects and deliverables.

This is a part-time / intermittent position

The Health Advisor will work closely with NIDHC P&P directorate leadership and staff and will report to the P&P Program Manager. This role requires strong writing and data analysis skills, excellent organizational abilities, and comfort managing multiple workflows simultaneously in a dynamic environment.

The National Institute for Defense Health Cooperation (NIDHC) was established in 2025 by combining three defense entities: the National Center for Disaster Medicine and Public Health (NCDMPH), the Center for Global Health Engagement (CGHE), and the Defense Institute for Medical Operations (DIMO). Its mission is to support military and civilian health operational readiness in crisis and conflict through training and education, planning and partnership, and research and analysis. Based at the Uniformed Services University, NIDHC is a federal organization and academic center that supports the DoD and the federal interagency.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.


  • Advises NIDHC leadership on design and implementation of operational KM strategy and activities.
  • Coordinates with Combatant Commands and other external stakeholders to strengthen relationships to enable DoW operational medicine data sharing.
  • Reviewing and developing knowledge products, publications, and reports for external stakeholders.
  • Conducts technical review and data management activities on multiple KM platforms; to include health and medical metadata tagging and data analysis.
  • Coordinates with Combatant Commands and other external stakeholders to strength relationships to enable DoW health facility data sharing and analysis
  • Directorate Advising & Support
  • Contribute to stakeholder engagement and coordination on NIDHC efforts as related to P&P projects and activities.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree or doctoral degree preferred.
  • More than 10 years of relevant experience in global health, defense analysis, security studies, knowledge management, or related fields.

  • Familiarity with or curiosity about GenAI tools and prompt engineering for process automation and efficiency.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines and manage stakeholder engagements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to act as a cross-functional liaison.
  • Well-developed skills in planning, prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.
  • Ability to interpret a wide range of information and use their findings to suggest improvements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work as a team toward achieving goals.
  • Well-developed listening and problem-solving skills to understand the issues and propose appropriate solutions.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, as needed, potentially austere and/or low-resource areas.
  • May require U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret security clearance.
  • Experience with global health engagement preferred.

Work Environment

  • This position is fully remote.

Compensation

  • The hourly pay range for this position is $50.87 - $76.92. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
