Position Summary: Tends cabling machines in a continuous production/processing operation of wire and cable products. Follows production/process specifications as directed and adheres to established procedures and safety guidelines to meet daily goals and objectives. Essential Functions * Reads Shop Order and Manufacturing Specification to determine machine set-up, materials required, and quantity to run. * Matches up incoming component lengths to maximize output. * Sets-up machine to produce product conforming to specification requirements. * Loads pay-off and take-up reels. * Selects closing die. * Threads components through lay plate and closing die and onto take-up reel. * Verifies raw materials to manufacturing specification. * Inspects incoming components to manufacturing specification. * Adjusts lay control for proper lay length. * Set-up taping heads as required, helical or longitudinal. * Inspects start-up sample for correct color sequence, overall diameter, length of lay, tape overlap and any visual defects. * Records all completed work on tally sheets and Daily Machine Report. * Attaches production tag to conforming material. * Attaches stop tag to non-conforming material. * May run multiple machines. * Performs daily maintenance check of hoists. * Performs all other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications: Skills: * Adequate verbal and written communication skills. * Basic math skills. * Must be able to operate machinery in compliance with safety standards.
