Job Description
The School Improvement Coordinator plays a critical role in Jefferson-Houston's turnaround efforts by designing and implementing data driven systems to monitor student achievement, instructional effectiveness, and intervention supports. The School Improvement Coordinator serves as a member of the Instructional Leadership Team and works collaboratively with the Administrative Team to implement and monitor the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP), Multi-Year School Improvement Plan, School Improvement Grant (SIG), and Title I Program. The coordinator also co-coordinates schoolwide testing, supports federal program compliance, manages school improvement initiatives, and provides data analysis to improve teaching and learning.
Qualifications
Education: Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, Assessment, or a related field. Certificates & Licenses: Valid Virginia Department of Education teaching or administrative license preferred. Experience: Experience in school improvement, instructional leadership, assessment, or a related field required. Experience in a Title I and/or Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) school preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Google Workspace, and student data management systems is highly preferred. This is an 216-Day (11 month) position.
Essential Functions
- Supports the implementation and monitoring of the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) and Multi-Year School Improvement Plan.
- Assists with the management and monitoring of School Improvement Grant (SIG) initiatives and Title I budgets.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and division accountability requirements.
- Supports the implementation and monitoring of federal grants and funding.
- Co-coordinates all schoolwide district, state, and college readiness assessments.
- Assists in developing and maintaining the annual school testing calendar.
- Co-facilitates the collection, analysis, and reporting of schoolwide student achievement data.
- Develops and maintains schoolwide data dashboards, intervention trackers, and progress monitoring systems.
- Attends Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings to support instructional decision making through data analysis.
- Plans and facilitates quarterly schoolwide data meetings.
- Collaborates with the Administrative Team, instructional coaches, and teachers to identify instructional priorities and student interventions.
- Provides data analysis to support instructional planning, MTSS, and school improvement initiatives.
- Assists with preparing reports and presentations for school improvement, accreditation, and accountability purposes.
- Coordinates Title I parent and family engagement requirements, including the Parent and Family Engagement Policy and School Parent Compact.
- Plans and coordinates family engagement activities aligned with school improvement goals.
- Develops partnerships with community organizations to support student achievement and family engagement.
- Serves as a member of the School Leadership Team and Instructional Leadership Team.
- Coaches and collaborates with teachers to strengthen evidence based instructional practices and improve student outcomes.
- Assists with training staff on testing procedures and ensures compliance with testing security requirements.
- Monitors assessment administration and resolves testing irregularities in collaboration with the Department of Accountability.
- Provides assessment reports and student achievement analysis to the Administrative Team and staff.
- Coordinates enrichment and intervention supports based on student performance data.
- Assists the Administrative Team in interpreting schoolwide data to inform strategic planning and decision making.
- Contributes to a positive school climate by supporting the school's mission, vision, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Administrative Team.
