Mailroom Clerk (Office Services Clerk) - Grade 08 OPEN RECRUITMENT This is an interview and hire position All candidates will be invited to interview based on the date the application is received. Applications may be on file for 12 months from the date received. Duplicate applications will not be considered. Responsibilities include:
- Receiving, sorting, and delivering mail to offices on site.
- Preparing packages and postage for shipping by FedEx, UPS, and DHL services.
- Assisting internal and external customers in locating their express and/or certified mail.
- Informing internal customers of proper procedures for the preparation of outgoing mail.
- Operating mailroom equipment.
- Arranging maintenance and repair of mailroom equipment.
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Clerical experience
- Ability to lift weight up to 50 pounds
This position is in the MVA Postal Services in Glen Burnie, MD (Anne Arundel County).

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Two (2) years of experience performing clerical duties.*One (1) year of this experience must involve working in a mailroom environment. *Selective Qualification recruitments are utilized when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (knowledge, skill, or ability). No substitution is allowed for the Selective Qualification. Notes: 1. Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education. 2. Applicants may substitute education from an accredited college or university at the rate of thirty semester credit hours for one year of experience on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. 3. Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical, math, word processing, spreadsheets, database, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for six months of the required experience.

The employee may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. The employee assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
