Facilities Manager

The University of Southern California School of Architecture seeks an experienced facilities professional to join our team as a Facilities Manager. The ideal candidate will have experience solving complex problems, will provide excellent customer service, have excellent project management skills with experience juggling multiple projects at once, have a calm and collected demeanor, and a positive attitude. The position will report to the Associate Dean of Finance at the School of Architecture and work closely with the Dean as well as school leadership. The Facilities Manager will perform a variety of duties, including:

Manage the maintenance, renovation, allocation and utilization of space and equipment for the School of Architecture.

This is a full-time permanent position located on the University Park Campus. This is a hybrid position with a 4-1 on site requirement. Depending on the school's need, the position may have the ability to work from home one day a week, if workflow permits.

USC School of Architecture

The School's footprint on USC's main campus is located at Watt Hall, Harris Hall, and MacDonald Becket Center (MBC). Within these buildings, Architecture students have access to multiple working studios and classroom areas; a laser cutter lab, a 3D print lab, plotter center, wood shop, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) milling shed, and three main gallery spaces. The wood shop and yard at MBC are partially shared with Roski School of Art and Design, but areas for welding and other large-scale fabrication are reserved specifically for Architecture students.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Supervises employees and student workers, as assigned. Schedules, assigns and prioritizes workloads. Sets appropriate deadlines. Monitors employee performance on a regular basis. Ensures timely completion of unit's work.
• Coordinates with university departments and/or outside contractors and vendors for facilities operations and maintenance and construction and renovation projects.
• Develops and administers the annual operating budget for facilities managed. Reviews, authorizes, and monitors expenses for utilities, materials and supplies, repairs, maintenance, and project work. Provides budget reports on a regular basis.
• Prepares long and short-range plans for the use of facilities. Maintains analysis of space and equipment requirements and allocates usage based on departmental priorities.
• Works with Student Services and faculty on class room scheduling and space allocation for studio, lectures, and guest speakers.
• Develops and implements deferred maintenance and preventative maintenance programs.
• Manages environmental health and safety programs. Conducts safety inspections, determining whether conditions are safe, and any remedial actions required to allow work to continue. Provides health and safety equipment. Maintains records for compliance with government and university regulations.
• Conducts periodic security surveys. Coordinates and resolves security concerns. Controls procedures for facility access to include establishment of guidelines for issue of keys and maintenance of related records.
• Inspects equipment and coordinates required repairs and/or purchases.
• Has a broad knowledge of space planning and management practice, including classroom support and learning spaces.
• Has a broad knowledge of technology projects and alignment of technology/infrastructure with capital investment priorities.
• Coordinates and monitors construction and renovation projects. Provides cost and status reports as requested.

• Develops and implements security related procedures such as office opening and closing routines, recognition of duress signals and key controls. Coordinates security activities with university Public Safety Department. Promotes and maintains standards for security conscious awareness and behavior. Maintains knowledge of university's crime prevention and suppression programs and services. Ensures dissemination of security related information to staff.
• Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and mandatory reporter under the Clery Act based on university responsibilities. Has responsibility and is required to receive reports of crimes or criminal incidents from victims of crimes and/or third parties; notifies Department of Public Safety immediately of any reported serious crime or criminal incidents that indicates the presence of an ongoing threat to the university community; and notifies the Clery Compliance Coordinator in the Department of Public Safety.
• May provide facilities coverage for School of Architecture events and be available in the event of building emergencies.

The annual salary range is $115,000 - $124,204. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer alignment, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
