Job Description

Position: Maintenance Mechanic

Primary Location: Richmond, CA

Schedule: Day shift, overtime and call outs, as required

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Compensation: $51.03/hr to start. After 3 months, $54.30/hr

Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and location. The hourly rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate for new hires for the position. Rates may also be determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. More specific rate factors for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process, as some facilities are subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements. About This Role and You

Maintenance Mechanics at our Richmond, CA sulphuric acid production facility are responsible for but are not limited to maintaining, rebuilding, repair, and the preventative maintenance of all plant operating equipment and facility buildings and grounds safely and in accordance with our Standard Operating Procedures.

Qualifications

    3 plus years of relevant maintenance experience in industrial or chemical environment highly preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to use computer effectively, Microsoft programs, maintenance management system, e-mail, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, manufacturer's literature, diagrams or schematics.
  • Ability to work off-shift requirements including: periodic emergency call out during off shift, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be capable of performing tasks in all-weather and at times, height while wearing personal protective equipment.

Medical Requirement

Chemtrade is committed to the safety and health of its employees and the public. All employees are required to complete and pass their annually held medical assessments, including but not limited to the Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) and the ability to wear a respirator as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Tank vessel opening and clean outs,
  • Perform certified welding, cutting and burning.
  • Perform pump, gearbox and motor repair.
  • Perform mechanical power transmission coupling and sheave alignment.
  • Changing of piping, valves
  • General plant upkeep and maintenance .
  • Serve on emergency response team
  • Complete all work instructions (work orders) and forms relating to maintenance, safety, and preventive maintenance while observing all safety operating procedures.
